The wooden oval salt tray and the stencils (types of line and strokes) are a magical sensory tool to  develop pre-writing skills before the the introduction of alphabets, letter formation and traditional handwriting (line orientation, spacing, and hand grasp).

This is truly a kinesthetic and multi-sensory activity as children can use their finger, or the wooden pencil, to trace and name the line in the stencil and then use the sand tray to practice making their own lines to decorate the oval! 

Each stencil has the name of the line printed onto one side. Children will learn the correct name for each type of line while also building their literacy skills. When flipped, the card is “blank” giving the child the opportunity to name the line independently.

All our wooden play materials are finished with non-toxic child safe paints.  Small toys can represent a chocking hazard for mouthing babies.  We highly recommend supervising children under the age of three who are still putting items in their mouths.

The beauty of handmade wooden toys is that two of the exact same item may look slightly different due to the natural characteristics of the wood.
